One of the four candidates for the leadership of the Scottish Conservative Party has taken ill.
West of Scotland MSP Jackson Carlaw became unwell on Thursday. He has been admitted to hospital and is to have surgery to remove his appendix.
A spokesman for Mr Carlaw said he was expected to make a "full and speedy recovery".
The other contenders in the leadership race are MSPs Ruth Davidson, Murdo Fraser and Margaret Mitchell.
The result of the ballot is to be announced on 4 November.
