MAKE Design Luxury London Pads
Ken Shuttleworth and his company MAKE, have teamed up with posh bespoke propery developer Ridgeford Properties to design an extension to their existing property in Marylebone, W1, London.
The new development consists of a mere twelve flats of top spec at 10 Weymouth Street that will offer a total of a little over 2,000 square metres of floor-space between them and should lead to an end price of well over £2 million each given the current market level for the area.
The highlight will be three penthouse properties that will have over 200 square metres of space each and thanks to their commanding position from the sixth floor that will be extended over the existing building should offer great views and even higher prices that is bound to appeal to the super-rich who are flooding the capital with capital.
The scheme is next to Portland Place and the RIBA headquarters so the developers also plan 150 square meters of office space on the ground floor to take advantage of this prime location and could also explain the exceptionally high design quality of the planned building and in particular the materials employed.
Architecturally the design has a rather unique look thanks to the glass bays that the apartments have replacing the traditional function of balconies. The cladding of the scheme is designed to fit in to the same creamy brick palette that the surrounding buildings have, this will include patterned rectangular brass cladding on the back of the building.
The roof of the development will be green, presumably offering a roof garden to the occupiers of it. There will also be a CHP system that will provide heating and cooling in an environmentally friendly manner.
If Westminster Council approves the scheme then Ridgeworth aim to get on site in October 2007 for a finishing date of March 2009.
