A90 crash scene The road was closed for accident investigations to take place
A woman pedestrian has died after being hit by at least one car on the A90 dual carriageway near Tipperty in Aberdeenshire.
The road, from Aberdeen to Ellon, was closed in both directions from about 18:00 on Thursday until Friday afternoon for accident investigations.
Police said that the woman who died had been struck by a Renault car on the northbound carriageway.
Officers said it was likely that she was then hit by other vehicles.
They have appealed for drivers who believe they may have struck the woman, or who saw what happened, to make contact with them.
The dead woman is believed to have lived locally.
Insp Jim Wood, of Grampian Police, said: "The collision occurred at the height of the rush hour and the road was very busy at the time."
